14 Popular Types of Retail Displays
Many types of retail displays exist, limited only by your imagination.
Corrugated displays (often, and incorrectly, called “cardboard displays”) are made of sturdy corrugated boards. Corrugated boards are much stronger than cardboard. (For example, a shipping box is made of corrugated boards, whereas a cereal box is made of cardboard called chipboard.)
Wertheimer Box manufactures many types of custom corrugated retail displays for small and large businesses.
What Are the Different Types of Retail Displays?
On this page, we share 14 of the most popular types of retail displays used today.
We divide them into five broad categories based on the display’s configuration and store placement. These five retail display categories include:
- Retail Display Trays and Pallet Displays
- Power Wing Displays
- End Cap Displays
- Floor Displays
- Countertop Displays and Bin Boxes
Under each category, we include a few examples of display types that fall into that category. These examples include a:
- Sample illustration
- Brief description of the retail display type
- Advantages of that type of display
- Some products you might showcase in that type of display
- Other common names for the display

Retail Display Trays and Pallet Displays
Display Trays are types of retail displays. Display Trays can be used as Direct-to-Shelf Trays. As their name implies, store employees place these displays, filled with products, directly on store shelves.
Alternatively, product manufacturers can stack Display Trays loaded with products directly onto wooden pallets. Store personnel do not unload products and place them on the shelves. Instead, consumers pick up products directly from the pallet in the store.
In this case, we call these types of retail Display Tray configurations Pallet Displays. Each retail brand has different specifications for the Pallet Displays it allows in its store.
Fortunately, Wertheimer Box has display software that identifies the necessary specifications and configurations needed for big-box, club, grocery, and other major stores.
