Corrugated Boxes on Conveyor Belt in Factory

Entry Level Worker

Located: McCook, IL
Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Duties

In this entry-level role, you will:

  • Lift, count, and stack finished products.
  • Inspect product.
  • Ensure the production area is organized and clean.
  • Record information according to documentation standards.
  • May have advancement opportunities.

Abilities:

This job requires that you:

  • Understand the standards for inspection and documentation.
  • Lift and stack weights of up to 35 lbs. each for up to 10 hours a day.

Basic math skills are preferred.

machine-operator

Machine Helper

Located: McCook, IL
Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely and get along with the Machine Operator to accurately complete production orders.
  • Complete safety and quality documentation as assigned.
  • Gradually learn how to operate box-making machinery by yourself.
  • Ensure the production area is organized and clean.
  • May be considered for advancement to the job of Machine Operator.

Abilities:

This job requires that you can:

  • Work closely with all coworkers.
  • Learn to set up and operate box-making machines.
  • Accurately complete production orders and other required documentation.
  • Lift items weighing up to 35 lbs.

Basic math skills are preferred.

Forklift Operator at Wertheimer Box

Forklift Operator

Located: McCook, IL
Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Operate a powered forklift to move, stack, retrieve, and load materials.
  • Follow safe operating procedures.
  • Sweep, scoop, bundle, and move corrugated trimmings.
  • Complete Illinois Safety Council training (at work) and earn the safety certificate for forklift driving.
  • Recertify every three years.
  • Ensure all plant production, recycling, and warehouse areas remain organized and clean.
  • Use bar code scanning equipment to track inventory.

Abilities:

This job requires that you can:

  • Prove you have 1-2 years of experience driving forklifts.
  • Understand and demonstrate Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Maneuver loads and be alert to possible safety hazards.

Basic math skills are preferred.

Wertheimer Box Machine Operator

Machine Operator

Located: McCook, IL
Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and safely run box-making machines with little supervision.
  • Read production orders.
  • Work collaboratively with the Machine Helper and other coworkers.
  • Read tape measures, gauges, and guides, and calibrate machines and equipment.
  • Ensure the production area is organized and clean.
  • Share ideas regarding continuous quality improvement or production enhancements.
  • Help drive quality.

Abilities:

This job requires that you can:

  • Operate Wertheimer Box machinery expertly as a Machine Helper OR have equivalent experience.
  • Communicate very well with production team members and shift supervisor.
  • You can help solve problems.
  • Work very well with other production team members.
  • Handle many requests at the same time.

Basic math skills are preferred.

    What Else You Should Know

    • Plant temperatures may vary.
    • Work weeks are 40 hours.
    • Our shifts are Monday through Friday.
    • Shifts are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm OR from 3:30 pm to 12 midnight. Our first and second shifts are fully staffed at this time.
    • You can expect to work the same shift each day.
    • Expect to perform duties as assigned.
    • Some days or seasons may be busier than others.
    • Occasionally, you may be asked to work overtime hours. If you choose to do so, you will get overtime pay.
