The Way Packaging Was

For years, most people never paid much attention to shipping boxes. All the attention was placed on the individual product that was packed in the individual display box and the individual display packaging used to market the product in the stores. The consumers would go to the store and buy the product they were looking for based on knowledge of the product or be attracted by the display packaging of the product.

We encouraged branded packaging throughout the process, but often our customers were less interested in that objective.

The New Demands for Packaging

The Coronavirus Pandemic has changed this traditional buying practice that has been a basic principal of our American economy.

Now, consumers are sheltering at home and have reduced the time spent in the retail stores. E-commerce is becoming more and more the customary buying practice for the consumers. People are staying home and ordering EVERYTHING online—food, clothes, household goods, and more. The products are shipped in corrugated boxes and delivered to the consumers’ homes.

For example, we have all seen more and more corrugated boxes being delivered to our homes when we drive through our neighborhoods. If we live in high rises, we have seen the mail rooms filled with corrugated boxes.

The demand for corrugated boxes has begun to overwhelm the supply chain for manufacturing corrugated boxes. The corrugated packaging demand has never been greater.

How Wertheimer Box Is Responding

At Wertheimer Box, we have always prided ourselves in getting our customers the corrugated boxes and other packaging they need, when they need them. We are taking every step we can to keep that promise. Here are some of the actions we are taking:

  • Manufacturing corrugated packaging 20 hours a day on some of the most efficient machines ever made.
  • Having our own corrugator helps Wertheimer Box secure our supply of corrugated board used in the manufacturing of our corrugated boxes. Our corrugator runs 24 hours, six days each week.
  • In addition, Wertheimer Box buys corrugated sheets from other national suppliers of corrugated board. We have expanded our sourcing of corrugated board to meet the increased demand for packaging.

At the same time, we have implemented social distancing guidelines to keep our workers safe. High production goals are sometimes at odds with these guidelines. We must always keep our workers’ safety as our focus and our first priority. For example, we are washing our hands and wearing masks every day.

We appreciate your patience during these times. Please know that our entire Wertheimer team is working as efficiently and expeditiously as possible to meet your goals.
